Interview with Ruth Silver + GIVEAWAY

I'm feeling a little warmer, today, but not because my heat is working. Oh no. I'm just downing coffee like a trucker on a 48 hour run and I'm jittery, but toasty warm. I guess I'd rather that than the alternative.

Today, we have an interview with Ruth Silver, author of the YA dystopian Aberrant Trilogy. The second book in the series, MOIRAI, just released late September.

Ruth Silver attended Northern Illinois University and graduated with a Bachelor's in Communication in the spring of 2005.  While in college, she spent much of her free time writing with friends she met online and penning her first novel, Deuces are Wild, which she self-published in 2004.  Her favorite class was Creative Writing senior year where she often handed in assignments longer than the professor required because she loved to write and always wanted to finish her stories. Her love of writing led her on an adventure in 2007 to Melbourne, Australia.  Silver enjoys reading, photography, traveling and most of all writing.  She loves dystopian and fantasy young adult stories.  Her debut novel published by Lazy Day Publishing, ABERRANT is scheduled for release April 2013.  Ruth has been actively writing since she was a teenager.  She currently resides in Plainfield, Illinois.

Welcome to We Do Write, Ruth. Tell us a bit about yourself.

Thank you so much for having me today. I’m Ruth Silver, the author of the YA Dystopian series Aberrant. I love writing, reading, photography, traveling, and blogging. The farthest place I’ve vacationed is Australia and I’d love to go back.

How long have you been writing?

I started writing when I was a teenager. When I began, it was mostly poetry and I was reading a lot of fan fiction. Eventually, I started writing fan fiction and role playing before penning my own novels.

The Aberrant Trilogy sounds amazing. Tell us about MOIRAI. What’s the story about?

Moirai is a YA Sci-Fi, Dystopian Fantasy that takes place seven months after Aberrant. It is the second book in the trilogy. Moirai follows Olivia and Joshua as they continue to learn about their special abilities that they’ve been given as they prepare for a full-blown uprising against their government.

How deliciously dystopian! I love it! Do you have a critique group/partner or beta readers, or do you self-edit?

I have a beta reader that helps restructure my novels. I never self-edit. When it comes down to actual editing, I use the editor the publisher supplies.

Are you a plotter or a pantser?

Definitely a plotter. I start with an outline, although sometimes I stray away from it by the time the novel is finished.

What’s the hardest part of writing for you?

Stopping to eat. Once I start writing, I don’t want to stop. It’s tough taking a break, I feel like I lose the flow of story-telling.

What are you reading right now?

Closed Hearts by Susan Kaye Quinn and The Island by Jen Minkman

Finish this sentence: If I'm not writing, I'm probably ... reading

Here’s the part where you thank the people who are supporting you. Let's hear your shout outs.

A very special thanks to my street team on Write Away Bliss, you've been there every step of the way, supporting my writing and sharing my novel. Thank you, Kira Watson for your amazing fan art that you've created.
